Il due febbraio è un giorno magico, un giorno che segna una festa celtica, che si è poi tramutata in una ricorrenza cristiana. Il due febbraio è il giorno in cui il sole ritorna a vivere e la terra riprende la sua fertilità: si dà un saluto all'inverno per dare un buongiorno alla primavera!
Ad Aosta è a fine gennaio che ricorre una festa, quella di Sant'Orso, in cui durante le sue giornate del 30 e 31 gennaio viene allestita un'enorme fiera dell'artigianato e in base al tempo di queste giornate si prevede la fine dell'inverno.
Una leggenda narra che il 30 e il 31 gennaio debbano essere i giorni più freddi dell'anno, se al contrario in quei giorni le temperature dovessero essere più alte del solito, allora l'orso, simbolo della stagione fredda, si sveglierà dal suo letargo e approfittando del tepore stenderà i panni, ritornando poi a dormire allungando il suo sonno di 40 giorni.
Un'altra versione narra che se in quei giorni ci sarà il sole l'Orso si girerà sull'altro fianco per riaddormentarsi, e quindi l'inverno continuerà, se invece pioverà ci si avvierà verso la primavera.
Il 30 e il 31 faceva caldissimo e non pioveva.. esito? Negativo. Secondo entrambe le versioni della storia l'inverno non vuole lasciare posto alla primavera.

Alla fiera di Sant'Orso vengono esposti soprattutto oggetti in legno. E' tutto meraviglioso, vorrei portarmi a casa un sacco di cose ma il prezzo per molti oggetti è inaccessibile. Tranne che per quei deliziosi fiori in legno che vengono venduti ogni anno da più artigiani e che Ci ogni anno mi regala con la scusa che questo fiore non posso farlo appassire (ha ragione, purtroppo non ho il pollice verde!)

On February 2nd the sun returns to live and the earth takes its fertility. We say goodbye to winter to give welcome to spring!
In my little town in the north of Italy we celebrate Sant'Orso: during 30 and 31 January is served a huge craft fair. Then we foresee the end of winter based on the weather of these days.
One legend says that 30 and 31 January are the coldest day of the year. If in those days the temperature should be higher than usual, the bear, symbol of the cold season, will wake up from its hibernation and will spread its clothes. Then he returned to bed stretching her sleep for 40 days.
Another version tells that if in those days it will be sunny the Bear will turn on the other side back to sleep, and then the winter will continue. If it rains the spring will start.
On January 30 and 31 there were hot and sunny days.. So on both sides of the story the winter does not want to give way to spring.

At the Fair of Sant'Orso are mostly exposed wooden objects. I would like to bring home a lot of things but the price is inaccessible. Except for those delightful wooden flowers that are sold every year by more artisans. Every year my boyfriend gives me one wooden flower and he say that is the only flower that I can not do wither! It's true...unfortunately I do not have a green thumb! ;)
